About

em·pir·i·cal or /əmˈpirik(ə)l/ : (adjective) based on, concerned with, or verifiable by observation or experience rather than theory or pure logic.

What is this thing and how did I get here? The Empirical Files tell stories, ask questions, beat dead horses, poke bears, render verdicts, and share raw truths based on life moments, big and small. As for how you got here, you clicked the “About” link on the homepage navigation, remember?

What is The Empirical Files NOT about? I’m no certified professional on life or death matters. So, please don’t come here looking for anything more than one opinion from one person’s life experience. That said, please consult a doctor to know if Hipster jeans are right for you.

Why was The Empirical Files created? Because over the years, I have written notes to friends about many of the topics you’ll find here and received encouraging and meaningful responses in return. Those same people convinced me that my words could help others out there, shared in a place like this, so here we are. That said, if you don’t like what’s posted here, we’ll both be blaming THEM, not me, yes?

Where do I start? Nothing you’ll find here is meant to be read in any order. Start anywhere you like, on any topic that piques your interest. Or, better yet, pick something at random and give it a go. Now that you’re here, what you make of these writings is entirely up to you.

What if I love or hate something I read here? Leave a comment, share, like, or troll me. My honest hope is that this expands my connections, deepens my understanding, and at a minimum, gives me a serious distraction from the doldrums of my vanilla-flavored desk job. But please note that blatant harassment, bullying, or general disrespect will get you blocked immediately, without hesitation. #sorrynotsorry

Do you take requests? Believe it or not (and you may very well not), I’ve received these before, so this isn’t a shameless ego plug. If you have a topic in mind, or a question to ask that you’d like me to write about, please send it over. If I don’t share your point of view on it, that should be OK. No hard feelings.

What else should I know before I open a post? We’ve covered everything I can think of, kids. However, in the spirit of continuous improvement, please drop me a missive after you’ve plumbed the depths to let me know if the warning label on the homepage should be written in a larger, bolder font face.

Happy Filing,

Enna Empirical
